MILAN

with the collaboration of studiosalaris

On the ground floor of a newly constructed building, we oversaw the creation of an apartment of approximately 200 sqm for a young couple with two children. Developed on a single floor and surrounded on three sides by a private garden accessible from all rooms, the clients' request was for a home with a refined yet informal atmosphere, evoking the 1950s but interpreted in a lighter and contemporary key. The clients wanted a traditional layout with distinct functional areas: a spacious and enjoyable living area with an open kitchen to be lived in, albeit separated from the living space, and a more intimate and private sleeping area. Thus, a completely tailor- made range of architecture was created. A generously sized entrance, equipped with custom-made wardrobes concealing a coat rack and a small guest bathroom separates the living area from the kitchen, both overlooking different corners of the garden. When needed, a large pivoting door, also recessed, filters off the more private part of the house. The master bedroom, with a private bathroom and a walk-in closet, mirrored children's bedrooms with a dedicated bathroom and a lounge-study make up the sleeping area. The internal spaces naturally follow each other and each one expresses a different purpose and identity. The colour and material choices follow the same strategy: woods, natural stone and herringbone oak parquet define the living area which is balanced and rigorous in tones and with furnishings of understated refinement; wallpaper, velvet, natural coconut flooring and softer hues on the walls give the sleeping area a gentler atmosphere.
